Mothers are perhaps the one person in our lives who care for us and love us unconditionally no matter what we say or do. Verghese, a resident of Naples, Florida, praises his own mother who provided love and comfort during a childhood filled with poverty, sickness and despair in a small village in India.

“She would often forfeit her own meals in those days, so that I could have one meal when I got home from school.”

His heartwarming memories led him to create a book devoted to mothers around the world that is filled with countless stories from sons and daughters of all ages and cultures about their mothers. I can proudly say, mine is included.

I came to know my mother in an unconventional way – through adoption when I was 7 years old. I never knew my birth mother, so Vera was the first person to open her heart and soul to me – loving, teaching, sharing, protecting and yes, even disciplining. Unfortunately, four years after my adoption, she was diagnosed with cancer and I became the one to take care of her. However, I loved her so much that her death when I was 19 came as a serious blow. To me, she was the most beautiful soul who ever lived and I will never forget her.

Okay, enough reminiscing. I’m getting teary-eyed. But these are the types of stories you will read in this book. If they don’t touch your heart, then you don’t have one. Admittedly, there are mothers who don’t deserve the moniker but for all those who do, this book is a wonderful tribute and sends a message that comes just in time for Mother’s Day.

This book is currently being submitted to the Guiness Book of World Records in various categories. To order your copy today go to HERE.
